From Plan to Punch List— Simple, Predictable, Repeatable
Great millwork isn’t just what we make; it’s how we deliver it. Cox Interior’s workflow protects your schedule at every step—turning showroom selections into jobsite-ready packaging that installs cleanly and on time. The 9-step system below is the same process our project managers use with builders and homeowners across the region, built around clear communication, accountable milestones, and builder-focused support.
1) Consult with a Project Manager
Share drawings, dates, scope, and site constraints with a PM who speaks jobsite. We align expectations, flag critical paths (paint, stairs, inspections), and set a response cadence so decisions don’t stall.
You get: one point of contact, a working timeline, and a checklist to start your millwork takeoff.
2) Takeoff & Blueprints
We perform a room/elevation millwork takeoff that mirrors your plan set. Counts follow install sequence (not warehouse picking), and we flag long lengths, custom knives, and species choices that affect cost, lead time, or finish performance.
You get: a detailed takeoff, practical alternates, and guidance that prevents re-orders or painter callbacks.
3) Provide Estimate
You’ll receive transparent pricing, realistic dates, and notes on any non-standard items. Tight schedule? We offer value-engineered options that preserve the look and meet the timeline.
You get: an estimate you can actually schedule around—no wishful ranges.
4) Contract Signed
Once scope locks, we reserve production windows and delivery targets. Materials, profiles, and sequences tie directly to your approved takeoff.
You get: a firm position on the calendar and committed windows for on-time millwork delivery.
5) Log/Tree & Species Selection
Finish goals drive species and substrate. For stain-grade we prioritize grain and yield; for paint-grade, stability and knife fidelity. Historic or signature profiles are matched in our knife room and archived for phase-to-phase consistency.
You get: materials chosen for performance, longevity, and design continuity across the project.
6) Production Begins (Come Watch)
Milling, moulding, pre-hung, and finish prep run under documented controls. You’re welcome to visit the floor—see profiles run, review door assemblies, and confirm details before packaging.
You get: confidence before it ships—and the option to approve at source.
7) Quality Control Inspected
Knife accuracy, dimensions, surfaces, and moisture targets are verified so lines stay crisp after HVAC startup. Pre-hung interior doors are checked for swing, reveal, and latch. Anything short of finish-ready is corrected now, not in a hallway or living room.
You get: components that arrive ready to install with minimal prep.
8) Ships to the Jobsite & Gets Personally Unloaded
We don’t drop pallets and leave. Deliveries arrive as jobsite-ready packaging: bundles labeled by room/elevation, faces protected, corners shielded, long runs supported, and manifests mapped to your takeoff. Drivers coordinate access with the superintendent and stage where work begins.
You get: faster staging, less re-handling, fewer dings, and a cleaner site.
9) Project Gets Installed (with Field Support)
Crews start immediately—following the manifest and labels. If questions arise or you need a small fill to keep momentum, your PM and local team respond quickly with practical answers and fast turns.
You get: momentum protected to the finish line, with fewer punch-list surprises.

What Makes This Process Work
Integrated Manufacturing
Sawmill, kiln-drying, knife grinding, moulders, pre-hung, and trucking live under one roof—how we keep tolerances tight and dates honest for on-time millwork delivery.
Design Consistency
Door packages align to casing; crown/base/case read as a single language; stair parts feel solid and meet code. The approved model becomes the standard—lot after lot.
Jobsite-Ready Packaging
We package to how crews actually work: labels you can trust, bundles you can lift (not wrestle), and manifests that match your install plan.
Builder-Focused Support
Proactive updates, early risk flags, quick clarifications, and small fills when you need them—so minor issues never turn into delays.
